Welcome to the Palmetto Ridge High School Orchestra & Choir!
One Program, One Family
Whether you're a returning member or thinking about joining for the first time, we’re excited you’re here! We know you may have some questions—and we’re here to answer them.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
Will Orchestra or Choir Take Up All of My Time?
Not at all! While we do expect commitment and responsibility, our rehearsals and performances are designed to fit alongside your other academic and extracurricular interests. Most students successfully balance music with sports, clubs, honors classes, and more.
Music is a part of your high school experience, not your whole life. We're here to support your goals in every area—not just in music.
Do I Have to Come to All the Performances and Rehearsals?
Yes—but don’t worry, we make it manageable.
Rehearsals and performances are a team effort. Everyone matters, and your presence impacts the whole group. That said, we provide calendars and updates well in advance so you can plan around them.If something unavoidable comes up, we ask that you communicate early and honestly. We're a family, and we work through challenges together.
What If I Want to Take Dual Enrollment, AP, or AICE Classes?
You absolutely can. Many of our students take advanced classes or participate in dual enrollment, and they’re still active members of the music program.
We work closely with counselors to find solutions that fit your academic path. With a little planning and perseverance, it’s very possible to do both.
F.L.V.S is a great way to take a course online a free up room for orchestra/choir!
Pro tip: Music classes can actually help boost your GPA, reduce stress, and look great on college and scholarship applications.
What If I’m Not Sure I’m “Good Enough” to Join?
If you love music and are willing to grow, you belong here. We don’t expect perfection—we expect dedication, effort, and a willingness to learn. You'll have support from peers, teachers, and upperclassmen every step of the way.
This is a program where you'll be challenged, supported, and celebrated—because we’re One Program, One Family.
