Leadership Positions Descriptions
President (Grades 11–12)
Serves as the primary student leader and representative of the orchestra and choir program. The President works closely with directors to support rehearsals, performances, and events, helps lead meetings, and sets a positive example in musicianship, leadership, and attitude. This role requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to motivate others.
Vice President (Grades 11–12)
Assists the President in all leadership duties and steps in when the President is unavailable. The Vice President helps coordinate student leadership efforts, supports event planning, and acts as a bridge between section leaders and directors. This role is ideal for someone organized, dependable, and ready to take initiative.
Librarian / TA (Grades 10–12)
Manages and organizes all sheet music and classroom materials. Responsibilities include distributing, collecting, filing music, and assisting directors with administrative or classroom tasks. Attention to detail and organization are key, as this role helps keep rehearsals running smoothly.
Equipment Manager (Grades 10–12)
Oversees the setup, breakdown, and care of equipment for rehearsals and performances. This includes chairs, stands, instruments, sound equipment, and any needed materials. The Equipment Manager ensures everything is performance-ready and handled responsibly.
Morale / Historian / Social Media (Grades 10–12)
Focuses on building a positive and connected program culture. Responsibilities include recognizing student achievements, helping plan morale-boosting activities, documenting events (photos/videos), and managing approved social media posts. Creativity, positivity, and responsibility with digital content are essential.
Section Leaders (Grades 10–12)
All Section Leaders are responsible for guiding their section musically and fostering a supportive, focused environment. They serve as role models in preparation, rehearsal etiquette, and performance quality. Section Leaders may help run sectionals, communicate with members, and assist directors as needed.
Violin Section Leader (Grades 10–12)
Leads the violin section by setting a high standard for technique, tone, and preparation. Helps unify bowings, lead sectionals, and support younger players.
Viola Section Leader (Grades 10–12)
Guides the viola section in achieving strong ensemble playing and musicianship. Supports section cohesion and helps members stay confident and prepared.
Cello Section Leader (Grades 10–12)
Leads the cello section with a focus on tone quality, rhythm, and ensemble balance. Assists with sectionals and supports overall group performance.
Double Bass Section Leader (Grades 10–12)
Supports the bass section in maintaining strong rhythm and foundational support for the ensemble. Helps ensure consistency and confidence within the section.
Soprano Section Leader (Grades 10–12)
Leads the soprano section in achieving clear tone, accurate pitch, and musical expression. Helps with sectionals and supports vocal health and technique.
Alto Section Leader (Grades 10–12)
Guides the alto section in blending, balance, and harmonic support. Encourages strong musicianship and confidence within the section.
Tenor / Baritone / Bass Section Leader (Grades 10–12)
Leads the lower voice section(s) in tone production, rhythm, and ensemble balance. Helps unify sound and supports members in developing vocal strength and accuracy.

Leadership Application Timeline
April 2nd: Leadership Application Opens
April 30th: Leadership Applications Due
You must turn in a hard copy of your application in a neat and organized manner (binder/portfolio).
May 5-7th: Official Leadership Interviews after school.
Dress Professionally. Participate in an interview conducted by Mr. Bigler, and guests. Be prepared to answer questions about anything pertaining to the position that you are applying for.
May 11-13th: Leadership Teaching After-School 2:15 - 3:15 pm.
Be prepared to teach a concept, step by step, in front of other leadership applicants, and students.
May 20th: MANDATORY New Leadership Meeting from 2:15 - 3:15 PM
